According to Florian Plettenberg, Ajax are still keen to keep Yourien Timber in their ranks after the summer, but knowing the great interest of European clubs in the 21-year-old defender, they are ready to let him go for a fee of 50 million euros.
A product of Ajax’s famed academy, Timber has yet to don another club’s jersey. He is a very highly regarded young player, a central defender who can play both on the flank and as a right back. Since moving to the first team in 2020, he has made a total of 117 appearances for the Dutch club in all competitions, scoring five goals. His undeniable prowess has already earned him 15 caps for the Netherlands.
Manchester United and Liverpool have been closely linked with Timber, with former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag and defender Lisandro Martinez eager to see him at Old Trafford, while Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk is believed to want him to come to Anfield.
