After 33 years, leading Napoli to the title, Spalletti departs

Italian club Napoli have officially announced the departure of coach Luciano Spalletti, despite winning the Italian championship this season.

The southern team, Naples, led by their coach Spalletti, broke a 33-year wait, especially after reaching it with the late Argentine legend Diego Armando Maradona, and ended the northern teams’ dominance of the championship since that season.

And Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of Naples, has said in statements, most notably by Fabrizio Romano, a trusted Sky Sports journalist, that Spalletti will leave the team at the end of the current league season.

And the president of the Italian club explained in his speech: “Spalletti’s departure? He is a free man, and when someone says that he has reached his maximum and wants to take a break for a year, it is right to leave him free.” ”

And he continued in his speech by saying, “He told me that he still has one more season on his contract, but he wants to stop. I can never give it up. He gave us a lot, and I thank him for that.”

And Napoli managed to win the Italian league title for the third time in their history, before the end of this season officially, with 5 full rounds to get back on the podium again.

At the age of 64, Spalletti became the oldest coach to win the Italian championship, breaking the record of Maurizio Sarri, who was crowned in 2020 with Juventus at the age of 61.

The Naples team is at the top of the Italian league table with 87 points they have accumulated in 37 rounds, one round before the end of the current season.
