The organizing committee for the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar announced on Monday that proceeds from ticket sales for the tournament will be used to support relief efforts for the Palestinian people in light of poor security conditions in the Gaza Strip.
The organizing committee of the largest tournaments on the yellow continent explained that the support for the Palestinian people comes after “a critical crisis that requires everyone to support and provide various types of necessary support.”
The Asian Cup final will be held in the Qatari capital Doha for the third time in history, from January 12 to February 10 next year, with the participation of 24 teams in 51 matches for the championship title, which is played across 9 sports stadiums.
The organizing committee said the second batch of tickets were put on sale, while the first batch went on sale in early October last year and was completely sold out, amounting to more than 150,000 tickets, of which 81,209 were sold out within 24 hours of the event . tickets are issued.
The countries that purchased the largest number of tickets for the tournament worldwide were Saudi Arabia, Qatar and India.
The tournament was scheduled to be held in China this year, but the Asian Football Confederation decided to withdraw it due to the circumstances caused by the Corona virus pandemic and China’s policies regarding infection cases, so that it would be transferred to Qatar in light of the readiness of their stadiums after the World Cup. 2022.
